Pre-record mode

Take photos before the shutter release button is pressed! With the Pre-record mode, photos are not only taken at the moment the shutter release is pressed - they're also taken before that! With continuous recording of up to 30 photos per second, a maximum of 25 photos can be saved in the camera's buffer memory - even before the shutter release is pressed. The 25th image then corresponds to the photo that was taken when the shutter release button was pressed. This means that, in addition to the photo that you took at the moment the shutter release button was pressed, you can choose from a further 24 images that occurred just before that moment. This function guarantees that the perfect moment can be captured even where events occur suddenly and by surprise.

JUST FOLLOW THESE STEPS

Press [MENU] in record mode.

Select "Record" using

and

Select "Serial shot" using

and

, and then press

Select "Rapid series" using

and

and then press [SET].

Press

(Serial shot).

This displays (Rapid series) and frames the colour display with a yellow frame. If this does not happen, press [SET] again .

Press [SET].

Select the fifth control panel option from the top (rapid series image rate) using

and

Select the required rapid series image rate using

and

and then press [SET].

AUTO:	The camera specifies the serial shot image rate using the ambient light level and sets it so that underexposure is avoided.
3 to 30 images/sec.	To set the number of serial shots to be captured per second.

Select the sixth control panel option from the top (max. serial shots) using

Select the maximum number of shots per image series using

and then press [SET].

Select the seventh control panel option from the top (number of preliminary serial shots) using

Select how many of the 30 images are to be taken from buffer memory and for how long preliminary images are to be captured using

and

Recording with preliminary series does not occur if the number of images in the buffer memory and the recording time are each zero.

Press [SET].

The approximate number of serial shots that can be taken appears in the colour display.

Press the shutter release button down half way.
The camera then begins the preliminary recording of images.

The camera does not produce a shutter sound when you press the shutter release button half way while preliminary series is selected.

Press the shutter release button down fully.
This records the images from the preliminary recording buffer and starts the recording of new images in real time. The camera continues to record images for as long as you keep the shutter release button pressed.

Image recording stops when you release the shutter or the maximum number of images has been recorded.

Save the images in the image series.

•	When selecting a rapid series image rate (fps), please note the following points: Use a higher rapid series image rate (fps) if the subject that you are taking is moving quickly. Use a lower rapid series image rate (fps) if the subject that you are taking is moving more slowly.
•	When selecting a maximum rapid series image rate, please note the following: The greater the number of shots, the longer the images are saved after recording is finished.
•	When determining a setting for a preliminary series, please note the following: You are advised to set a time of at least 0.3 seconds, as the time between deciding to take a picture and actually pressing the shutter release button is approximately 0.1 to 0.3 seconds.
