AUTO SHUTTER FUNCTION

Blurred images are usually the result of an unsteady camera action or subjects that move while the release button is being pressed. EXILIM offers a simple solution to the problem of blurred or shaky photos: The new Auto Shutter function can automatically determine the perfect moment to take a photo.

The new Auto Shutter-Technology is made up of a range of functions, which help to prevent blurred and shaky pictures: the Anti Blur Auto Shutter, Pan Auto Shutter, Smile Detection Auto Shutter and the Self-Portrait Auto Shutter. Select the function you desire and the camera captures a pretty smile or other significant moments, as soon as it is stable enough to ensure optimal results. The innovative function is available in the new EXILIM models EX-S10, EX-Z80, EX-Z100 and EX-Z200.

JUST FOLLOW THESE STEPS

In picture mode, press [SET]
In the control panel, use and to select the "Auto Shutter".
Then use and to select the required Auto Shutter type and press [SET]. The Auto Shutter type is activated.

AVOID BLURRED PICTUES WITH THE ANTI BLUR AUTO SHUTTER

Point your camera at the subject, press the release button half way down and wait until the camera has automatically set the exposure and focus.
Then press the release button all the way down. The camera begins to assess movements of the hand and the subjects and takes the picture automatically as soon as the level of movement is at a minimum and the picture is clear. While the assessment is taking place, " Auto" flashes in the display.

AVOID BLURRED PICTURES WITH PAN AUTO SHUTTER

Point the camera on the place the subject is moving through and press the release button half way down to automatically set the exposure and focus.
Then press the release button down completely to switch the camera to Auto Shutter standby mode. Now follow the subject with the camera. As soon as the subject is clear the camera takes the picture automatically. While the camera is focusing the subject, " Auto" flashes in the display.

TAKING PICTURES OF PEOPLE WITH THE SMILE DETECTION AUTO SHUTTER

Point your camera at the subject, press the release button half way down and wait until the camera has automatically set the exposure and focus.
Then press the release button all the way down. The camera now checks whether the person is smiling. As soon as a smile is detected, the camera automatically takes a picture. While the Smile Detection Auto Shutter is running, " Auto" flashes in the display.

TAKING A SELF-PORTRAIT

Press [BS] (BEST SHOT) and then select the BEST SHOT programme "Self-portrait (1 Person)" or "Self-portrait (2 People)".
Press the release button all the way down and point the camera at yourself. The camera switches to Auto Shutter standby and registers the faces of the people in the picture. When the camera has registered the set number of people, it takes a picture automatically as soon as the image is clear and the photo results cannot be impaired

Please note
You can combine the self-portrait function with a serial shot mode (CS). The camera is operated in the same way as using a serial shot mode in combination with Auto Shutter.

TIPS FOR EVEN BETTER SNAP-SHOTS WITH THE AUTO SHUTTER FUNCTION

  • The combination of the Auto Shutter with Anti Shake DSP provides even more effective protection against blurred pictures.
  • When using the Anti Blur or Smile Detection Auto Shutter, hold the camera as steady as possible until the picture has been taken.
•  In dark locations requiring long shutter time and for pictures where the subject is moving at high speeds, the Anti Blur or Pan Auto Shutter may not achieve the desired effect.
•  Because facial expressions differ from person to person, the automatic release function may not function as desired or not at all in certain situations when using the Smile Detection Auto Shutters. In this case, it may be helpful to try a different reaction setting.
•  When using the self-portrait function, the resulting picture may be blurred taken in a badly lit location, due to the slow shutter times used in this setting
•  If the camera is in Auto-Shutter standby, the reaction time of the automatic switch-off function is set to five minutes. Stand-by is deactivated while Auto-Shutter is in use.
•  The Auto Shutter function cannot be used in conjunction with the following functions: - certain BEST SHOT functions (e.g. business cards and documents, whiteboard etc.), Past Movie, YouTube™ Capture Mode, speech recording)
